Recipe #1 Earl Grey Cupcakes

As many of you know I began my cupcake adventure a couple of weeks ago. Sorry about taking so long to post pictures of the finished cupcakes, I had some technical difficulties. :)

The first cupcake recipe Jeremy picked out was Earl Grey cupcakes. Yes, earl grey like the tea, which makes for an interesting cupcakes. You began the recipe by steeping 2 earl grey tea bags in warm milk for at least half an hour, you then mixed all the ingredients together and added the milk and baked the cupcakes. They actually tu
rned out to be more of a cornbread consistency than a cake batter consistency. When they came out of the oven they looked yummy and golden brown!

After letting the cupcakes cool, you are suppose to steep 2 more earl grey
tea bags in milk to mix with the frosting, but I decided to be rebellious and left the tea out and just mixed up the chocolate ganache (chocolate, butter, and milk).

Jeremy actually loved these cupcakes! Which surprised me, he really is not much of a sweet eater and would t
ake steak and potatoes over sweets any day. But these cupcakes he really liked. He said they were not as sweet and had an intriguing flavor which is why he liked them. Now I am not so sure "intriguing" is a compliment or not, but that is definitely how I would describe them. They tasted different from any cupcake I have ever had. They had an orangey tea flavor to them, the earl grey flavoring was more pronounced than I expected. It was fun to try something different and bake with new ingredients I have never tried baking with before.
